Mini Subs

RICE IS NICE RECORDS are very happy to say they have a long loving future planned for themselves and MINIATURE SUBMARINES!

MINIATURE SUBMARINES is a vehicle for the solo recordings of Mark Nelson, otherwise known for his work in Melbourne band The Stabs. Stylistically the Submarines music couldn’t be further removed from The Stabs sound – this is unashamedly an exercise in pop.

Mark is joined by Monika Fikerle (Love of Diagrams, Baseball) who has been good enough to nail the hell out of the drum parts on the first couple of tracks.

The first release will be a limited 7” inch along with clip and national tour, which we will fill you in on very soon…

For now, we offer you some live Miniature Submarines where Mark is joined on stage by Greg Kerslake, Alex Jarvis and Duncan Blachford to play at the following places.

Jun 13 – THE TOTE with Tucker B’s and St Helens
Jun 20 – THE HOPETOUN with Aleks and The Ramps
Jun 27 – EDINBURGH CASTLE for Castletones
Jul 18 – THE TOTE front bar with Mother And Father

TALONS BOMB

Holy crap-balls people, the time is here!!! The long awaited Talons album is ready to blow minds across the room, through the wall and out into space. There is loads of great talk about this record in press and internet land at the moment. Talons had the Album of the week on FasterLouder (May 25th 09). Also some stellar reviews of the album from Time Off Brisbane (scroll down the page a bit) and Rave Magazine. There is also an interview with Talons on Bomshellzine.Keep an eye out in the press for the interview and review in Rolling Stone and the review in Jmag.

Finally – As you would already probably know, the Talons boys are heading out on a massive national tour with buddies Regular John over the next couple of months, then get prepared for some super special not to be missed Album Launch spots during August. All in all a big few months coming up for your ears and Talons.

WITH TALONS

AND REMEMBER -
“Talons blew the fucking place apart! There’s a cut-throat brutality to their sound, a brittle teeth-grinding severity that’s distinctively un-Melbourne in a way – an underlying cynicism indicative of Sydney life perhaps? We pride ourselves on the quality of rock music coming out of this town, but my word when Sydney produces diamonds they are jagged, robust little fuckers and they’re not afraid to tell it like it is. Talons blew my fragile little mind and turned a killer night into one of the gigs of the year.”
