READ MORE BELOW, FROM THE VALLEY FIESTA PRESS RELEASE

SPOD
Uber-cool hyperactive Spod’s new album “Superfrenz” almost didn’t come into being. After taking three years and six home studios to record his new effort, the hard drives holding said album died. Spod was ready to call it a day, but his Spod-loving “Surperfrenz” rallied around him and set to raising money to record again. And aren’t we glad they did. With the Sydney scenester being branded the last word in cool, Spod brings an exciting live show to the festival.

SEJA
Seja Vogel is well known to Brisbane audiences but not in this guise as a solo pop chanteuese. Having played the world over in Brisbane’s finest pop bands, Sekiden and Regurgitator for many years, time came for SEJA to strike out on her own, bringing her trademark dreamy synth hooks with her. Her debut album “We Have Secrets But Nobody Cares” has captured hearts nationwide, with her single ‘I’ll Get To You’ a triple j favourite. Catch SEJA live on stage at Fiesta before she jets off around Australia in support of Sarah Blasko throughout October.

Hello,
Its nice to see you here. On line, on the world wide web. Thanks for coming over.
I guess I can tell you about Richard In Your Mind.

Well Richard In Your Mind released an album called My Volcano. It’s really pretty good that album.
It was however quite a lot of hard work so once it was released (June 26th) we went out for tea

After we had some German food and mega beers, only a few though, we went and Dj’d at Purple Sneakers and it was fun.

Then it was time for our first album launch! SPPPPECTRUM!
We had birds with lays, palm trees,

and a packed room full of gems. Kyu and We Say Bamboulee came along for the night too and were so good we all wept, head banged and took our shirts off,

It really was the best night of our lives. So much so that it was subconsciously recorded by our hearts, uploaded and now available here for you to listen to http://www.riceisnice.net/riym/music/Richard-In-Your-Mind-Syd-Album-Launch.mp3

If that wasnt enough, we had ANOTHER album launch.
This time at the ol faithful, never lets you down Northcote Social Club.
I wish I was there right now really.

Soundcheck was funny because we only had half of our gear. ah ha ha…
So Conrad stood in for the missing instruments and conducted the band to check their sound perfectly.

Then the time came and the band played and it sounded marvelous.

We had to go though!

So off we went for another dj shindig on the town.
Conrad did the honours

Brent and Jordy watched

and as Conrad played songs that made us feel alive and creepy, Pat made some cheesy new mates.

It was sad when we had to leave Melbourne. But we did after I ate eggs that tasted like mould.

THEN if 2 was not enough, we actually played ANOTHER ALBUM SHOW.
this time….in…….T.A.S.M.A.N.I.A.
I think they really liked us.

That is what they told us after they called us 104678 names and THREW SHOES!

This is a nice photo

We liked them too.

We liked them so much, we stayed for a drink…

and then THE WHOLE WEEKEND!
We heard there were legends who lived there and….that there were oysters to be found

and shucked

Conrad started to look different a bit like my mum…it was weird.

Then…there was….I know….a FOURTH ALBUM LAUNCH.

Not many people do 4 launches of the same album but we did.
We went to Brisbane.
AND!
I dont have one single photo.
AH well we love FANS night club and we dont have any photos because we were too busy have the next best night of our lives.

Thank you everyone,
good night.

Ohhh wait, there are some videos here too:

“Before MY VOLCANO was released there was a tour….a long tour, with Cloud Control. Here is everyone saying HELLO, hello everyone.

This tour was a very special and spiritual time for us all. Touring is about sharing, caring and mainly about eating cornettos with best friends in Perth and taking in its beautiful scenery. It was great, we watched Cloud Control play like demons and sing like angels. We also developed new angles on our own songs, such as I Will and TIny Colossus Face AND sometimes Conrad would watch TV It was coooool.”

Still here? You GEM.

Sarah Blasko has invited her friend and fellow musician Seja to join her on her Spring tour. Seja’s synth prowess is well-known through her work with previous bands Regurgitator and Sekiden, but it is Seja’s eponymous solo project that produced her debut effort “We Have Secrets But Nobody Cares” that has
put a spotlight on her simply sweet songwriting and synth laden pop hooks.

With her album receiving fantastic reviews and stand out single ‘I’ll Get To You’ on rotation at Triple j and community stations, Seja is truly carving a niche for herself as a solo artist. She’s also got some pretty nifty dance moves!

My Volcano sees the band expanding their musical vision ever outwards, traversing through fields of lush psychedelia, Odelay-esque party jams, lo-fi antifolk and tribal freak-outs. Richard In Your Mind’s ability to write such an incredibly eclectic record is an obvious achievement. Songs are lyrically colourful, beautifully composed, yet can be dark, dreamy, powerful, emotional and explosive all at once.

Championing their second full-length album release the band enlisted the producing and mentoring powers of none other than SPOD. The union of SPOD and Richard In Your Mind for My Volcano has ensured a kaleidoscopic and at times euphoric listen. SPOD worked with the band intensely during the lead up and recording, breaking the new material out of it’s shell when needed, developing and enhancing tracks, but at times leaving them lo-fi and beautifully raw the way it was always intended. Out of this dream collaboration comes a fresh and exciting band establishing themselves as a creative song writing force with strong, imaginative themes and clever sonic arrangements.

They have successfully fulfilled their vision for album number 2.

The partnership between SPOD and Richard In Your Mind was recognized and appreciated when they teamed up on 2009’s popular Summertime EP. The EP, released the first day of summer 2009, spawned underground slacker hip-hop hit ‘Make it Chill’ and served as an enticing appetizer for their 2nd album.

Richard In Your Mind was originally conceived as a recording project by former roommates Richard Cartwright (guitar, vocals, harmonica, sitar and other assorted instruments) and Conrad Richters (bass, synth, guitar) in 2006.

The band quickly gained notoriety on the Sydney scene for their flamboyant live shows. In December 2007 the band released their debut album The Future Prehistoric to glowing reviews, and went on to spend much of 2008 touring in support of the release.

Through 2008 the band toured extensively, eventually adding new members Pat Torres (drums), Jordy Lane (guitar, vocals) and more recently their newest member Brent Griffin (synth, sampler).
